Although the name 'hidden category' is quite descriptive, here is a short definition: It is a product list that is not visible to your Customers via your Checkout but only visible when triggered manually via a deep link.

What to use a hidden category for?

Enabling a hidden list can have multiple purposes and vary depending on your needs.
The most common reasons for partners to set this up are:

  • When you want to test a new flow before you want to release it for all your customers.
  • When you want to set up a B2B flow via which, for example, business partners can exclusively buy the tickets for a special price.
  • When you want to set up an internal reservation flow for employees to make bookings for groups without payment and ticket amount limits.
  • When you want to set up other special "private" booking flows.

How to enable a hidden category? (or disable visibility of a category):

1. Navigate to Products in your main menu on the left-hand side.

Now, it depends on whether you want to hide an existing category from your customers or if you want to set up an entirely new private flow

For the purpose of this example, we will show you how to set up a new flow and hide it.

2. Scroll down and hit Add category.

Note: If you want to hide an existing Product list, click on the product list you want to hide to view it in editing mode, and you will end at the same window.

3. Set up the category as you normally would. In case you need a refresher on how to do that, please go to our full guide on how to set up a category and products.

Now, you will see that the category is by default enabled to show in your Checkout.

4. To hide the new category, you need to switch the Show category in checkout toggle to the left.

As soon as you move the toggle, you will see the deep link needed to trigger your hidden category:

5. Make sure to connect the products you want the new flow to include.
In case you need a refresher on how to do that, please go to our full guide on how to set up a category and products.

6. Copy the deep link and use or share it with the right people. Depending on your case, make sure this link is used confidentially.

7. Hit Save.

DONE!

Your hidden product list will be shown to you as such in your product overview page by displaying the following icon:
